should dealer give full trad in value?
Should the dealer give me the full kelly blue book or NADA trade in value of my car? had dealer offer 500 less than kbb value listed at appropriate condition level.

First off, as others have said, NADA and KBB are guides. They are not rules, laws, or anything binding to anyone. The worst part is that they are inaccurate. People have been conditioned into using these numbers, when we dealers dont even look at them 99% of the time.
When evaluating a car for trade, I look at the results from the prior week’s dealer auction. Obviously these numbers are more current, and more reflective of the market in my area. KBB does not update weekly, and will not tell me that Car X is not selling as well in my area.
Auction value tells me what I can buy a car like your for at the sale. Why would i pay more for yours than one at the sale? It also tells me what I can sell yours for if I choose not to keep it. Auction values are my safety net to make sure I dont overpay for your car on trade.
